The President delivers a keynote speech at the Korea-Poland Business Partnership Forum on July 7.

 

The President , now in Poland on the first leg of his three-nation European tour, attended an economic forum upon arrival in the Polish capital of Warsaw.


In a keynote speech to the Korea-Poland Business Partnership Forum attended by some 200 business executives from both nations, President Lee proposed expanding bilateral cooperation in three sectors, namely energy, construction and culture.


He said in particular that cooperation in building nuclear and other energy plants is an area where the two countries can benefit from their complementary strengths.


The President went on to say that he hopes Korean businesses can participate in planned projects in Poland, as the European country is currently working to build its first LNG terminal while also planning to build nuclear plants.


Lee also expressed the hope that more Korean businesses will be able to take part in Poland''s ongoing infrastructure projects, stressing that Korea is home to many of the world''s leading construction companies.


He also called for improved cooperation in the culture sectors, saying that the combination of Korea''s information-technology and Poland''s media industries can provide them with new business opportunities.

Following the economic forum, the Korean president visited an exhibition of first-rate Korean products in the Polish capital, where 55 South Korean firms, including Hyundai-Kia Motors, Samsung Electronics, and LG Electronics displayed their "world best" products.


The participating companies have signed contracts worth over $100 million and about 20,000 people visited the venue.


Lee''s Poland visit is part of a three-nation European trip, which will also take him to Italy and Sweden.


The President  will return home on July 14.
