The President arrived in Pittsburgh, the second destination of his week-long visit to the United States, on Thursday, Sep. 24 (local time).

In the city, Lee met with the representatives of Korean nationals there, as well as famous American football star Hines Ward, and explained to them Korea''s role in the Group of Twenty meeting next year. Korea will co-host the G20 meeting in 2010.

Lee also touched upon the Korean government''s strenuous efforts to fight against the global financial crisis and the advancement of Korea-U.S. ties.

The President visited the Korean War Memorial in the city, where he laid wreath for deceased war veterans.

Later in the day at a working dinner held before the G-20 summit, President Lee asked global leaders to tackle global economic imbalance through collaboration.

He also emphasized that newly established financial resources offered by the IMF and other development banks should reach developing and emerging economies before others.
