The President Lee Myung-bak on Wednesday (Oct. 14) met with Seychelles President James Alix Michel at Cheong Wa Dae. Seychelles is an English and French speaking archipelago republic in the western Indian Ocean, north of Madagascar.
At the summit, the Presidents shared their views on bilateral interests including ways to increase economic cooperation.
President Lee mentioned that Seychelles was engaged in active economic reform after having achieved exemplary economic growth and democracy.
President Lee also appreciated the strengthening ties between Korea and Seychelles, which were seen in trade and civil exchanges. Lee hoped that the advance of Korean companies into Seychelles and personnel exchanges between the two countries would expand in the future.
Meanwhile, President Michel asked for Korea''s active investment into Seychelles'' major industries of tourism and fishing.
The two leaders also agreed to closely collaborate on international issues, such as climate change and piracy off the coast of Somalia.
