German President Horst Kohler and his wife will make a state visit to Korea this coming Sunday (Feb. 7) at the invitation of the President, the presidential office Cheong Wa Dae said on Jan. 31.
On Monday (Feb. 8), a day after Kohler''s arrival, the two Presidents will discuss plans for a successful G20 Seoul Summit and an early ratification of the Korea-EU FTA during their bilateral summit in Seoul. A state banquet will be prepared later in the day.
During their talks, the two Presidents will also delve into ways to substantiate bilateral cooperation in areas including trade and investment, environment-friendly industrial development, and science and technology, Cheong Wa Dae said.
Matters on inter-Korean relations, climate change and many international issues will also be brought to the meeting.
President Kohler''s visit comes 8 years after that of the former German President Johannes Rau in 2002, according to Cheong Wa Dae, and Kohler will meet Korea''s National Assembly Speaker, Chairman of the Presidential Committee for the G20 Summit and national business leaders during his Seoul visit, which lasts until next Wednesday (Feb. 10).
He will also visit the National Museum of Korea and have a meeting with German business leaders residing in Korea on Feb. 9.
