Presidential Spokesperson Lee Dong-kwan made the following remarks in a briefing this morning.
The U.S. Board on Geographic Names just reinstated the designation of Dokdo from “Undesignated Sovereignty” to “South Korea” on its website. It can be said to be the result of the restored Korea-U.S. alliance and trust between the two countries. The unexpectedly swift action can be attributable in particular to President George W. Bush’s understanding of the sentiment of the Korean people as well as the profound trust and friendship between the presidents of the two countries.
