Briefing on the Summit Meeting among Korea-China

The President explained to Premier Wen the outcome of the investigation on the Cheonan and measures that he took in response to the situation.  The President also asked for the Chinese cooperation on the issue.  Premier Wen said that the sinking of the Cheonan was unfortunate and China understands the sadness of the Korean people.  He went on to say that China expresses once again the condolence to the families of the victims.


Premier Wen said that the Chinese government would determine its position in an objective and fair way with the clarification of the rights and the wrongs of the situation, thinking highly of the international investigation and the international community''s response.  And he made it clear that China would not patronize anyone according to the outcome.  Premier Wen said that China consistently works for the peace and security of the Korean Peninsula and it opposes and condemns any action that destroy the peace and security of the Peninsula.


The President asked Premier Wen for continued cooperation and support of China in the course of Korea''s response to the situation in cooperation with the international community.  Premier Wen expressed his hope that the Korean government would handle the situation appropriately and said that China would consult with Korea closely.
