Korean President Lee Myung-bak and Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso will have a bilateral summit at Cheong Wa Dae next Monday (Jan. 12), the Presidential Office said Wednesday (Jan. 7).
The Prime Minister, who will visit Korea at the invitation of the Korean President, arrives in Korea on Sunday and is to hold summit with the President early the next morning, said the office.
This is the third summit between Lee and Aso, and the Lee Administration had further three summits with Japan before Aso took office.
The two leaders are expected to share thoughts on enhancing bilateral relations between Korea and Japan, collaborating to fight global economic crisis, peace-making around the Korean Peninsula and the two countries'' cooperation on regional and international issues. After the summit, they will hold a press conference.
Taro Aso, in his first bilateral summit outside Japan since his September inauguration, is said to bring a group of key economic officials to Korea.
During his time in Korea, the Japanese Prime Minister will meet with Korean business leaders, visit Hanyang University''s Nano Science and Technology Institute and have talks with members of Korea-Japan youth exchange associations.
