The First Lady visited Hanoi Korean School, Vietnam on Wednesday (Oct. 21). She was accompanying President Lee Myung-bak who was making a state visit to Vietnam and other Southeast Asian nations.
After being introduced by the school''s principal, Kim listened to the school band play and listened to what 11th graders from multicultural families and their parents had to say about living there. During the session, students also talked about studying in a Korean school in Vietnam.
“Living with a happy family is a foretaste of heaven,” Kim said, stressing the importance of family. She also answered questions asked by students and encouraged them to study hard to make them useful for their country and the world.
Hanoi Korean School was established on March 21, 2006. It provides a curriculum for elementary, middle and high school students and is currently run by 48 teachers and staff members. So far a total of 334 students attend the school and another 82 have graduated from there.
