The President started his two-day schedule in Cambodia on Oct. 22 by paying a courtesy call to King Norodom Sihamoni.

After the welcoming ceremony, which took place at the Royal Palace in Phnom Penh, President Lee and the King talked about the developing ties between Korea and Cambodia since the normalization of official relations in 1997.

They also discussed ways to boost their collaboration in agriculture, culture and personnel exchange and others.

At the subsequent meeting of Korea and Cambodia''s economic leaders, President Lee emphasized that the two countries'' enterprises should step up their cooperation in ways to seek symbiotic development.

The meeting, held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Phnom Penh, was hosted by Cambodia''s Prime Minister Hun Sen and was attended by about 100 economic leaders from both countries.

President Lee underscored the six-fold increase in bilateral trade between Korea and Cambodia in just 12 years (since the re-launch of official ties), and stressed bilateral cooperation efforts especially in agriculture, forestation, job creation, infrastructure enhancement and human resources development.
