The President , visiting Singapore for the 17th APEC leaders meeting, met with Singapore''s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Friday (Nov. 13) evening.
President Lee conveyed his best wishes for a successful APEC meeting and evaluated the achievements of Singapore chairing the summit.
The two leaders agreed to work closely on making outcomes of the recent G20 meeting held in Pittsburgh more active through this APEC meeting. Also, President Lee emphasized that Korea will seek the cooperation of non-G20 countries like Singapore in preparation for chairing the upcoming G20 meeting.
Meanwhile, both of them affirmed the rapid development of economic and trade bilateral relations between Korea and Singapore, after the Korea-Singapore FTA came into effect in 2006.
They also expressed satisfaction at the progress made in the establishment of a Korea Cultural Center in Singapore, an initiative brought up by Prime Minister Lee during the Korea-Singapore summit meeting in June 2009. They both agreed to cooperate in the areas of clean energy, low carbon, and green energy.
Both leaders said they will hold discussions more frequently to exchange views on a wide range of topics, especially on bilateral relations, local and international issues.
