The President had a meeting with Pascal Lamy, Director-General of the World Trade Organization, on Sep. 6 in Seoul to discuss agendas infor trade and development sectors for of the Seoul G20 Summit meeting.
The main issues the President and the WTO chief discussed included cooperation measures to make progress infor progress in the Doha Development Agenda (DDA) negotiations, to prohibit prohibitions on protectionism, and extending the volume of aid for trade.
The President highly valued WTO''s main role in maintaining stable development in world trade and making progress in DDA negotiations.
The President also asked Lamy for WTO''s close cooperation in order to successfully host the upcoming G20 Seoul Summit and achieving achieve desired outcomes in trade and development sectors.
The WTO head stressed that reaching an early agreement in DDA negotiations will help achieve growth in the world economy, create more jobs, and fight protectionism. He suggested the countries should make cooperationcooperate in the G20 Seoul Summit in order to make better progress in the negotiations in DDA negotiation. Lamy also asked Seoul''s support in expanding the volume of aid for trade led by WTO.
