The President currently visiting South Africa, held a strategy meeting on July 3 on the bid to host the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang.
During the meeting, the President emphasized the importance of small details in the final pitch for the games, urging those involved to stay focused.
The meeting was attended by Culture Minister Choung Byoung-gug, Foreign Affairs Minister Kim Sung-hwan and Minister of Knowledge Economy Choi Joong-kyung, along with Pyeongchang Bid Committee Chair Cho Yang-ho, Korean Olympic Committee Chair Park Yong-sung and the governor of Gangwon Province, Choi Mun-soon.
Governor Choi said that approximately four hundred Gangwon Province residents flew to Durban at their own expense to demonstrate regional support for the games.
On July 6, the President will take part in Pyeongchang’s final presentation and showcase the Korean government’s commitment to the members of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) before the voting at the general assembly in Durban.
