The President had a meeting with Luis Alberto Moreno, president of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), to discuss cooperation between Korea and the IDB.
At a meeting held in Cheong Wa Dae in Seoul on October 21, the President and President Moreno exchanged opinions on economic development in Latin America.
The President highly valued the IDB’s contribution to economic cooperation between Korea and the Latin America region. He stressed the possibility that Korea and the Americas can build a win-win partnership through mutually beneficial economic and industrial structures of the two sides.
The President urged the IDB to play an active role in strengthening economic cooperation between Korea and Latin America, while mentioning the Korea-Chile free trade pact which expanded the trade volume between the two countries.
The President also introduced the Korean government’s green growth policy as the country’s long-term vision to the IDB head. He also expressed his hope that Korea can strengthen cooperation with Latin American countries on green growth through the IDB. The president mentioned Korea’s active support for developing countries through the establishment of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and the East Asia Climate Partnership.
President Moreno, who was visiting Seoul for the Korea-Latin America Business Forum, acknowledged the Korean government’s support for the business forum and said the IDB will cooperate with the Korean government to help strengthen cooperation between Korean and Latin American firms.
