The President urges nationwide support for NSS

The President urged for a concerted effort among related government organizations to ensure the success of the 2012 Seoul Nuclear Security Summit, at the third preparation committee meeting on February 27.

That day, the committee briefed The President on the summit’s agenda, along with the latest issues pertaining to the expected outcome of the Seoul Communiqué. In a bid to realize the full potential of the upcoming summit, the meeting served as an occasion to review preparation blueprints, safety procedures, traffic control plans, and protocols.

During the meeting, The President stressed the importance of nationwide support to mark the international meeting focused on world peace and nuclear security. The President called upon the Korean people to form a national consensus and pledge their full support.

Following the briefing, The President paid a visit to the office of the 2012 Seoul Nuclear Security Summit Secretariat and offered his encouragement to the members of the secretariat as well as volunteer workers.

The high-level forum is set to take place in Seoul from March 26 to 27. As of February 23, the summit is expected to gather 53 state leaders, including U.S. President Barack Obama, Chinese President Hu Jintao, and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev alongside the heads of the UN, IAEA, EU, and newly joined INTERPOL.
