The President and visiting Danish Prime Minister Lars Rasmussen held a bilateral summit at Lee''s office on Mar. 11. The Danish leader is visiting Seoul from Mar. 10 to 12.
The leaders exchanged ideas on such broad issues as increasing bilateral trade and investment, green growth, development cooperation, reconstruction of war‐torn Afghanistan and recovery from the global financial crisis.
Expressing satisfaction about the two countries'' continued development in bilateral ties since they forged official diplomatic relations in 1959, they promised to escalate their joint efforts for eco‐friendly and high‐efficiency energy resources development and to further enhance collaboration in the fields of green growth industry.
The two leaders shared the recognition that the Korea‐EU FTA when ratified would expand the two countries'' bilateral trade and investment opportunities and promised to advance the agreement''s signing to the earliest possible date.
Korea and Denmark agreed to foster collaboration in the field of development assistance as a new member of the OECD Development Assistance Committee and a leading nation in the area.
The leaders gave an evaluation of the agreement reached at the Copenhagen climate change meeting in December and concurred to draw as many nations as possible into the implementation of the agreement.
In reference to the bilateral social security pact signed by the ranking officials of the two countries following the Korea‐Denmark summit, the President and Rasmussen hoped that the agreement would boost the two countries'' industrial and labor ties, thereby escalating their bilateral economic cooperation.
The Danish Prime Minister''s visit to Seoul, the first by Rasmussen, worked as a great opportunity to confirm the constantly growing bilateral ties between the two countries and expand collaboration in the fields of emerging high‐tech industries, economic recovery, preparation for the upcoming G‐20 summits and international climate change, Cheong Wa Dae said.
