The President met with Secretary-General of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Jose Angel Gurria on October 25 at Cheong Wa Dae in Seoul to discuss cooperation measures to ensure the success of the next month''s G20 Seoul Summit.
The President highly valued OECD’s contribution to the macroeconomic policy cooperation and issues of trade and development, key agendas of the upcoming G20 summit.
He also asked OECD to cooperate with Seoul so that the G20 Seoul Summit can further develop the outcome of the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors'' Meeting which was held in Korea’s Gyeongju, Gyoengsangbuk-do, on Oct. 22-23.
In regard to the development agenda, particularly, Lee stressed that development discussion of OECD''s Development Assistance Committee should be closely dealt in line with the development agenda of the G20. He also asked OECD to upgrade its monitoring in order to prevent the world economy going back to protectionism in amid global conflict over currency issues.

The President also urged the need of cooperation between OECD and the Global Green Growth Institute, which Korea established in June last year to promote the country''s green growth policy vision to overseas in order to achieve sustainable economic growth.
The OECD Secretary-General, in response, agreed with the need to prevent the world economy from heading toward protectionism. Gurria also agreed with the importance of green growth and pledged to strengthen cooperation with Korea in green sector.
He also called the President as "the father of Green Growth Strategy," praising that Korea is the leader in green growth, Cheong Wa Dae spokesman said.
Gurria also invited the President to the next year''s OECD meeting where members will begin discussing green growth strategies and celebrate its 50 anniversary.
